Journey of Hope

A half-day seminar for women who have experienced loss, in transition, or who want a new normal.

Join us on Saturday, July 29, 2023 for the Journey of Hope seminar. The event will take place at the Pioneer Adult Community Center in Oregon City, Oregon from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Learn How to Recover From Loss and Grief

At One to Another in Oregon City, OR, we offer different opportunities for people to heal and embrace life again. We hold many events and classes that you can take part in.

We offer two grief classes: “Grief Release” and “Beyond Grief Release.” Through these, we aim to guide people through the healing process and teach them how to appreciate the beauty of life again

Aside from these, One to Another also offers:

Grief Release Classes

Why Should You Take Grief Release?

From the blur of pain, confusion, and bewilderment, Grief Release brings life back into focus. It encourages unhurried healing and provides practical step-by-step support on the road to restoration.

Who Can Join These Classes?

One to Another welcomes everyone who needs help dealing with loss, particularly those who have:

  • Lost a loved one through death or divorce
  • Lost a job (retirement, corporate downsizing, etc.)
  • Lost their business or home
  • Lost their health
  • Experienced empty nest syndrome
  • Lost hope and joy
  • Lost their identity, reputation, or self-esteem

It is also helpful for those who:

  • Believe they’re never going to make it/have lost hope for recovery
  • Find their loss overwhelming
  • Suppress their feelings

How Long Does This Program Last?

There are a total of five classes. Attendance at the first session of this program is mandatory.

Will There Be Materials Provided?

Workbooks are included in Grief Release classes. You can purchase extras at the first class or contact the instructor to order them.

How Long Does This Program Last?

About the Facilitator

Class Facilitator Joanne Smith Petrie is a nationally certified Bereavement Facilitator, hospice chaplain, counselor, author, radio host, and teacher. She is the founder and director of One to Another, a nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon.

Joanne has been teaching Grief Release since 1985, following the death of her first husband. She is the producer of the Grief Release video series and co-author of the book “How to Say Goodbye.”

Grief Support Group

The Bristol Hospice “Build a Bridge of Hope” support group provides an avenue for people to share their feelings and receive support from others who are going through similar grief. It is a Peer Support Group facilitated by Chaplain Joanne Petrie.

Friend to Friend

If you are looking for new friends or want to strengthen existing bonds, this program is for you. Friend to Friend is open to women of all ages who want to meet other ladies and broaden their circle.
